Agility Classes

Probably one of the best known dog sports, agility offers a great mental & physical energy outlet for dogs (and their humans). Additionally it is quite often a confidence builder for shy or nervous dogs. Our classes begin with the foundation skills needed to do the obstacles safely from the beginning and gradually progress through introduction of each obstacle to regulation height.

Pre-Agility (8 months and up)
This class introduces and builds upon foundation agility skills, including but not limited to: handler focus, basic turns and crosses, targetting, contact behavior (2 on 2 off), and start lines stays. Obstacles introduced will include: short tunnel, jump standards, wobble board, low plank, and pause table.
Prerequisites: Introduction to Positive Reinforcement
Limited to: 4 dogs/handlers (in group class)

Beginner Agility (Ages 10 months and up)
This class builds upon the foundation taught in our Pre-Agility class, focusing on applying these skills to agility equipment. Obstacles introduced will include but are not limited to: low a-frame, low dog walk, beginning jumping skills, open tunnel, and chute.
Prerequisites:
Pre-Agility (or demonstration of equivalent skill level)
Limited to: 4 dogs/handlers (in group class)

Novice Agility (Ages 12 months and up)
This class builds upon the skills taught in our Beginner Agility class, raising the heights of the previously introduced obstacles and introducing weave poles and the teeter. Handlers will begin sequencing learned obstacles together.
Prerequisites: Beginner Agility (or demonstration of equivalent skill level)
Limited to: 4 dogs/handlers (in group class)

Intermediate Agility (Ages 14 months and up)
This class builds upon the skills taught in our Novice Agility class, raising the heights of the previously introduced obstacles and introducing longer and more complex sequences. Dogs will remain in this class until dogs are proficient on competition-height equipment and are able to sequence a minimum of 10 obstacles. Sequences (and later courses) used in this class will typically consist of AKC Novice/Open or USDAA Starters/Advanced level.
Prerequisites: Novice Agility (or demonstration of equivalent skill level)
Limited to: 4 dogs/handlers (in group class)

Advanced Agility (Ages 16 months and up)
This class will focus primarily on handling longer sequences and full courses, with emphasis on presenting the dog with the clearest cues possible. Courses and sequences used in this class will typically consist of AKC Excellent or USDAA Masters level. This is an on-going class.
Prerequisites: Intermediate Agility (or demonstration of equivalent skill level)
Limited to: 6 dogs/handlers (in group class)
