Obedience Classes

Our Obedience classes range from the very introductory levels of teaching basic manners and skills to more advanced levels including scent discrimination retrieves, off leash heeling, hand signal exercises at a distance, and 3-5 minute out-of-sight stays.

Introduction to Positive Reinforcement
This class is offered only in a 2-week group or private lesson format. It is a one-time (per person) prerequisite to ALL classes at Anything's Pawsible. This class introduces the methodology all Anything's Pawsible classes use to get and maintain desired behaviors, giving you the tools to proceed further in whichever class direction(s) you choose.
Prerequisites: None
Limited to: 4 dogs/handlers (in group class)

Puppy Obedience (Puppies ages 4 months through 9 months)
This class introduces and builds upon basic skills and manners, including but not limited to: loose leash walking, door manners, greeting people, recalls (coming when called), sit, down, stand, and stay. Topics discussed will also include housebreaking, common problem behaviors, socialization, and dog body language. Specific aspects of this class are also offered in 2-week group formats called Mini Classes (see above).
Prerequisites: Intro. to Positive Reinforcement
Limited to: 4 dogs/handlers (in group class)

Basic Obedience (Ages 9 months and up)
This class introduces and builds upon basic skills and manners, including but not limited to: loose leash walking, door manners, greeting people, recalls (coming when called), sit, down, stand, and stay. Topics discussed will also include housebreaking, common problem behaviors, socialization, and dog body language. Specific aspects of this class are also offered in 2-week group formats called Mini Classes (see above).

Novice Obedience
This class builds upon the foundation taught in our Puppy and Basic Obedience classes to teach the tasks required at the AKC Novice Obedience level. These tasks include on and off leash heeling, 1 minute off leash sit stay, 3 minute off leash down stay, stand for examination, and recall from 20+ feet. Please note, the goal to compete is not required for enrollment in this class.
Prerequisites: Basic or Puppy Obedience (or demonstration of equivalent skill level)
Limited to: 4 dogs/handlers (in group class)

Advanced Obedience
This class builds upon our Novice Obedience class, preparing you for AKC Open and AKC Utility level work. Tasks at these levels include scent discrimination retrieves, hand signal exercises at a distance, directed retrieves, drop on recall, and 3-5 minute out-of-sight stays. Please note, the goal to compete is not required for enrollment in this class.
Prerequisites: Novice Obedience (or demonstration of equivalent skill level)
Limited to: 6 dogs/handlers (in group class)
